Update - I’ve installed the windows versions of both Google Earth and GPS Babel in the virtual machine and they both communicate with the GPS. I’ll keep looking and see if there are any answers. You can set Baud rate but there are other parameters that are not available with that configuration screen that are available under windows. GARMIN USB DRIVER MAC OS X SERIALOS X treats the serial device as if it’s a modem. One plus point with the Babel software is that it does report what it’s trying to do and what the errors are occurring which I guess might help identify the problem. It automatically cycles through the different usb ports (bluetooth, serial etc.) looking for the device but fails to connect. The silver, 3-in-1 and 2-in-1 SkyBound G1 adapters are not supported in the JDM Mac OS. GARMIN USB DRIVER MAC OS X FOR MACI also tried the GPS options in Google Earth but that had the same outcome. JDM for Mac only supports the blue, single-slot SkyBound G2 adapter. Other users had some success with GPS Babel on similar setups. First stop will be to bring it to work and run the update stuff off the Garmin website on my PC.I used GPS Babel after the Garmin web based software failed to connect or recognise the device. Thanks again Robert! I ended up going with the eTrex Vista Cx as I wanted the altitude to be sure! I found an amazing deal for $232 (wow) and I am really excited to get this thing talking to my Mac like a champ. Since GPSBabel is also the tool used for Google Earth's Plus and Pro editions, the same answer applies there. GPSBabel supports Legend Cx (running recent-ish firmware) on OS/X. I am also wondering about how easy it is to upload files to the unit for my geocache hunts. Can I connect it directly via the USB cable or would I need adapters and do any of the freeware options such as GPSBabel work with it? I would like to use it with Google Earth and really dig the features of the unit. ![]() So I am looking at the Garmin eTrex Legend Cx and wonder what the current state is with OSX. Other than this annoyance, I think it's a great program. ![]() I keep hoping it will be addressed in an update, but so far not. I know, you shouldn't have to do it, but it takes care of freezes. Transfer one thing (this can be a file with multiple waypoints) then restart the program and power cycle the GPSr before doing another transfer. The best way I've found to work around this is to have everything you need transferred saved first. This program is required to let websites, including the RouteYou website, use your Garmin device. GARMIN USB DRIVER MAC OS X INSTALLAfter you installed the Garmin USB driver software, you have to install the Garmin Communicator Plugin. You can download it from the Garmin website: Installation of the Garmin Communicator Plugin. This program is required by Windows to communicate with your Garmin device. My basic experience has been that the program will do one transfer just fine, whether it be routes, tracks, waypoints.then freeze or crash during the next. First you have to install the Garmin USB driver software. I've had similar problems with the program crashing.always while trying to transfer data one way or the other. your Garmin product might not have sufficient memory remaining for you to load an update to the map data, in which case you will need to either (a) select reduced map data coverage for your updates, or (b) purchase. ![]() The Mac itself doesn't crash (isn't that why we laugh at PC users?) Minor inconvenience compared to hand-entering coords. This USB mass storage device is compatible with Windows® XP or newer and Mac® OS X 10.4 or later. I have had some crashing problems with MacGPS Pro, but it just quits and you have to restart the program. ![]()
